2018 Terry Fox Annual School Run
Congratulations, goes out to all of the Pre K-6 students of Robert Smith School for their outstanding effort and phenomenal success and participation during this year's Terry Fox National School Event, which took place on Friday, September 28, 2018 at 2:00 pm.
Students of the school attended a pre-run kick-off assembly talking about the life of Canadian Hero ~ Terry Fox, viewing portions of his inspirational video and celebrating as a community the fundraising efforts of our students and their families.
This year Robert Smith students were challenged to raise $500.00 dollars in two weeks. When all was finished and done,
the incredible students of the school raised a grand total of $2300.00 ~ What an amazing accomplishment!
Every challenge ends with a reward for a job well done. On October 10/18 students of the school took part in a Terry Fox Whip Cream Pie Throw, which saw each classrooms top three fundraisers pie the staff! Make sure you check out the slide show below.
Special thanks to Ms. Cooke's grade 5/6 class who designed a map of Canada which saw all of the loose change which was donated used to track Terry's dream of running across Canada. We also thank everyone who took the time to donate both cash and cheques.
This year our grade 3-6 students took part in a 3km walk/jog/run through a designated route along with our neighboring students form Ecole Bonaventure.
Students in Pre-K-2, also took part in the days events by going on a 1.5km walk throughout a designated route within the surrounding neighborhood streets combining the importance of the run itself with various concepts of the Social Studies curriculum.
Thanks to all of the Robert Smith Staff who prepared a wonderful treat for all students of the school upon their return.
Students of Robert Smith Elementary certainly showed that they are Terry Fox!
